Asansol Anandam, a Special Child Development & Vocational Trainning Centre, located at Asansol, West Bengal, has been striving for the cause of special children since 1992. The services rendered by the centre include assessment, counseling special educational facilities and therapeutic services to the physically handicappes, hearing impaired, autistic, mentally retarded, emotionally disturbed and cerebral palsied children. Furthermore, pre-vocational and vocational training is also provided to the special children of the special school. The organization has its own building covering area approx. 8600 Sq. ft. & the construction of 1st floor of the centre is almost completed. The centre is previleged with Grant-in-Aid from the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India, New Delhi since 1998-1999. Collection of public donations, subscriptions, sale of coupons,donations from corporate sectors, fund raising programmers etc. is the main source of income to maintain the daily activities of the organization.
After the foundation of our organization on 3rd August, 1992 we are now in the Silver Jubilee Year. A meaningful and vibrant journey with active co-operation and support from our all wishers and blessing and guidance of the citizens from all corner for this glorious milestone achievement.
We are facing enormous challenges. We are at present working with 100 Nos. Special Children and there are 9 Nos. specially trained and experienced teachers and 18 Nos. staff for taking care of the special children. But, it is needless to mention that the support and caring services are much more needed to our special children. We know it very well that there is a crisis of qualified professionals which is very much needed for scientific assistance. But hard reality is that due to very poor and limited financial resources and huge uncertainty of obtaining the financial grant from Govt. of India, under DDRS, we are becoming handicapped to extend our full-fledged service and developmental work. We are also facing problem to appoint therapist in different area for the extreme financial limitation.
Besides, it is very difficult for us to meet the increasing expenditure in various heads like maintenance cost of present infrastructure, payment of honorarium to teachers, staff and various support services in different segment.
We are meeting today in this back drop and we have to prepare ourselves to meet all these challenges through our dedication. We, however, believe that with the most needed support and assistance of the both the Government, the members and people of our society. We shall be able to overcome all odds and crisis. We remain firm and have continued our journey at every cross-road. We must remember that past creates present and present creates the future.
On this day, let us renew our pledge to put in our concerted and best efforts so that the mission of Asansol Anandam can be successful and that will be the best offering for our special children, special educators, staff, members and associates.
